Pneumonia may be suspected when the doctor examines the patient and hears coarse breathing or crackling sounds when listening to a portion of the chest with a stethoscope. Any person with serious signs of pneumonia should be transported immediately by ambulance to the nearest hospital capable of managing someone with chemical pneumonia. Ventilator-associated pneumonia is defined as pneumonia that develops more than 48 hours after endotracheal intubation or within 48 hours of extubation.
The most common types of infectious are viruses and bacteria, with its being less commonly due to fungi or parasites. If bacteria are causing the pneumonia, the doctor will try to cure the infection with antibiotics. People with Community-Acquired Pneumonia contracted the infection outside a hospital setting.
